So in case you live under a rock and haven’t heard, there is going to be a solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st! It just so happens good ole Cookeville, Tennessee is the prime location to catch this once in a lifetime experience.

Looking for a place to catch a glimpse of this phenomenon? Here are 8 places to consider:

Del Monaco

Go home and tell all of your friends, “I blacked out at Del Monaco Winery!” because the eclipse festivities begin early here! On Sunday, enjoy live music at the winery from 4-10PM, and camp out overnight so you won’t miss any of the fun. Doors open at 2PM on Sunday to setup camp. On Monday, the real party begins with more live music, games, food, and vendors.

Update from Del Monaco: Online sales are now closed. We will be accepting people on Sunday and Monday. We have glasses for anyone purchasing tickets for either day. They can come in that day, $25 Sunday for the concert from 4-10 or Monday, $25, starting at 9. Our guest even get to harvest to earn DelMonaco Dollars!

Tennessee Tech University

TTU was designated as a NASA official viewing location for the eclipse. They will be hosting Eclipse Fest, a viewing party, on Monday beginning at 10:00AM as a total solar eclipse makes its way across North America. TTU openly invites people from all over the world to come and share the experience! This event is free and family-friendly.

Red Silo Brewing Company

Mark your calendars for Red Silo’s party! This event kicks off at 11:00AM and concludes at 10:00PM. Kick back and enjoy craft brew. What better way to catch this cool event? But wait a minute…what’s a party without a practice party? Red Silo will be hosting a practice eclipse party on Sunday starting at 12PM. The best part? They are releasing a new beer that day! Sunday-Funday!

Cummins Falls

Cummins Falls is a local hot spot when the weather is nice for outdoor activities. With the gorgeous hiking trails and breathtaking waterfall, it’s a no brainer! Naturally, it’s a pretty cool spot for viewing the eclipse! Starting on Sunday, you can camp out at Cummins Falls State Park to reserve your spot for total darkness in the middle of the day. Included in your reservation, you will receive solar eclipse glasses, astronomy program, a guided hike, and live music!

Southern Hills Golf Course

Southern Hills is throwing a SOLARFEST party complete with eclipse glasses, light appetizers (Moon-pies, maybe!) and cosmic cocktails for the duration of the eclipse! With wide-open skies, you won’t miss a thing here! To top it off, DJ Paul will be playing some music for you to enjoy.

Fall Creek Falls

Dogwood Park

So the eclipse is on a Monday and if you have to work, we have good news! You can still enjoy a weekend full of activities starting on Saturday at Dogwood Park. Starting at 6PM, stop by and attend the Meet and Greet with WCTE-PBS’s “Ready, Set, Go” characters followed by tales and folklore of past solar eclipses. Hang around for the 8PM viewing of Star Wars: Rogue One right in the middle of Dogwood Park! On Monday, the excitement continues into the evening as the Cookeville Community Band presents a celestial-themed concert at 7:30PM.

Short Mountain Distillery

Located in Woodbury, Short Mountain Distillery is another cool spot to check out. They will be hosting a solar eclipse viewing and barbeque on Monday from 11:00AM – 4:00PM. This event will feature award-winning barbeque and moonshine cocktails.

There are so many things to do this upcoming weekend! Beginning Saturday and carrying into Sunday, you can participate in the #CKVLCraftCrawl and taste the local breweries eclipse-themed beers!
