GOLF There are seven golf courses in Putnam County, some of which are championship courses.
Cookeville Country Club
The Cookeville Golf Club is open to the public and offers a fantastic experience in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The 6600 yard, par 70 layout offers four sets of tees, providing unique challenges for every level of play. After a memorable round, relax in the clubhouse or on the spacious deck where you’ll find that friendly service and great food are always par for the course.
Southern Hills Golf Course
Established in 1988, Southern Hills has long been a favorite for local and traveling players alike. In addition to a fantastic course design, the facility offers a putting green, chipping green and new bi-level driving range with artificial turf and irrigated turf areas. In the clubhouse, kick back at Reed’s 19th Hole, where you can have a drink and enjoy hot sandwiches and appetizers.
White Plains Golf Course
White Plains Golf Course has been in business since May 1988. This 18 hole course has a great layout, offering many challenges for the experienced golfer and some easy par three’s for the new golfer. The course is settled in the valley surrounded by mountains so the landscape is a beautiful attraction. They can accommodate business outings, tournaments and group outings of any size.
Belle Acres Golf Course
Convenient to anywhere in the Cookeville, Belle Acres Golf Course offers a varying terrain 2934 yard, par 36, 9-hole track and the largest practice facility in the area. The signature sharp dogleg right, short par 5, 7th hole offers a chance at eagle with a precise drive and a deft putting stroke on the extremely sloping green. Ironwood Golf Course
Ironwood’s 18 hole course is nestled into the natural hills and valleys north of Cookeville, Tennessee making it a fun but challenging course. Owned by former professional golfer Bobby Nichols, Ironwood is a unique experience in Cookeville. The course plays to 6,321 yards from the longest tees with a course rating of 69.8 and slope rated at 122.
Mountain Ridge Golf Club
The 18-hole “Cumberland Cove” course at the Mountain Ridge Golf Club facility in Monterey, Tennessee features 6,675 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 70.0 and it has a slope rating of 113. Designed by Gary Roger Baird, ASGCA, the Cumberland Cove golf course opened to the public in 1967.
Riverwatch Golf Club
At the heart of the Riverwatch Golf Club stands Tennessee’s first 18-hole championship golf course on Center Hill Lake. The 6,900 yard scenic layout transforms the natural landscape into challenging yet encouraging tests of ability for players of all levels. Each unique hole is woven into the spectacular surroundings of the property, a perfect illustration of golf and nature at their best.
